Events: Special exhibitions.
There are two new displays on show at Te Aroha museum and they are connected by The Right Honorable Richard (King Dick) Seddon.
*The Right Richard Seddon was the 15th, and longest serving Prime Minister (April 1893 – June 1906) in New Zealand, and one of its greatest political leaders.
Hot Springs Hotel:
In the main area is a display on the Hot Springs Hotel, which had a "splendid piano" and those gathered on the hotel’s first floor verandah could watch the small steamers plying the Waihou. In this display are items on display for the first time, including the hotels registry book, in which Richard Seddon has made an entry when he stayed there.
*On until March 2013
Railway Station:
The former bedroom is now the Railway waiting room; including a photograph of R.H. Dick Seddon taken when he was visiting the Railway Station in 1905.
Also on display are two bicycles, one of which was purchase by local sportsman Oscar Stace during his visit to the British Empire Games in Edinburgh in 1934, this bicycle has interesting rosewood wheels. When Mrs. Stace passed away Oscar’s Grandchildren brought his Great Grand Children to the Museum to see the bicycle. The waiting room has a wonderful atmosphere and you could really believe that you were at the station.
*On until May 2013
